1970s Bill Gibb Archival Floral Silk + Suede Fringe Magpie Dress- S

Honorably presenting this iconic, early 1970s museum held and archival, Bill Gibb for Baccarat medieval magpie dress. This heavy weight piece is layered in texture, with the fabulous cultural and design elements that Gibb was known for. First being its woodsy silk floral print, which contrasts beautifully to the double checkered fabrics. The two tone brown checkers on the hem and cuffs, while the bust is an ivory and brown checkered cotton. Features a suede trim and fringe, as well as a gorgeous medieval empire waist. There is a zipper closure in the back.

This same dress, in a different color way, is held in the Aberdeen Archives Gallery + Museum (shown on last slide). It is an early work of Gibb’s, from when he was head designer at the London fashion house Baccarat, before beginning his name line. It was during this time that he received the Vogue designer of the year award.

This piece is fully lined and is perfect for the upcoming fall weather upon us and is a rare opportunity to acquire such an archival treasure. It is in wonderful condition and presents perfectly. There is a small hole on the brown checkered trim at the hem, as well as the lightest abrasion to the fabric on the back of the shoulder. As well as a light mark on one of the flowers on the skirt, this could easily be mistaken for graphic shading. All shown in photos.

For reference on sizing, currently I am 8 months pregnant and was not able to zip up in the back.
