1950s American Folk Art Painting Brook Farm- 15x19”
Most darling, 1950s American Folk Art Painting. This is actually an amateur reproduction of a Josiah Wolcott painting from 1845, depicting a place called Brook Farm in Massachusetts. Brook Farm was created to be a utopian society. A community that focused on equanimity, based on an agrarian society, living off the land. The rainbow was a symbol of harmony on Brook Farm.
This painting, is done in a charming and childish folk art style with peaceful pastel tones and to me, sets the innocent tone of the farm better than the original! Would be darling in a child’s bedroom or bathroom, even in a hallway. Just precious! Dated April, ‘59.
