1930s Mint Green Linen Vacation Overalls- S/M
Adorable and rare, 1930s linen vacation themed, women’s overalls, in a mint green color. Pockets are embroidered with two figures lying in the sun in sombreros, beneath palm trees. As beach pajamas became more popular, manufacturers would put popular vacation locations on the garments. These would have been meant to be worn outdoors for sport and play- a contrast to what our definition of “pajama” is now. You can see this identical jumpsuit featured in the 1930s mail order catalogues, shown on the last slides.
Has mismatched green celluloid buttons and is in good condition for age. Has a bit of wear, such as discoloration, darning in the back, and some small pinholes. A testament to the many lives this item has lived! Structurally strong and sound. This came to me without straps and I have since had them replaced. There are a few inches of slack within, so buttons can be moved to make longer or shorter. A wonderful piece of early, women’s sportswear.
